Finding good detailed instructions for simple Photoshop has to be harder than if the tonsils taken out. So after struggling to figure out how to edit text in Photoshop, I thought I would simplify it here for you.

Here is a plea from a customer, that we helped.

I checked the Adobe Help and instructions selecting the Text tool, select the layer and then into the current text field to edit. He considers the creation of a new Freakin ‘layer. What should I missing? I am so tired of futzing with this. There are times when I click in the text and it activates when I can go ahead and make changes. Why is that coincidence? I’m sure there some trick that Photoshop users know from years ago, automatically. HELP!

It’s really simple – if only the instructions were.

Open Photoshop. Open the PSD document you want to edit. Click on the ‘T’ icon in the left navigation bar (this is the text-icon). If the toolbar is not on the left side, click on the tab at the top called “Windows” and check “Tools” and it appears.

Now, move your cursor over the text area you want to edit, and “right click” and it is highlighted. Now you begin the text. You can also use this text to by the cursor appears directly beneath the text, until an arrow with a crosshair. The right mouse button and move the mouse until the text where you want it. Then click the left and it’s now moved.

Photoshop files themselves can not be embedded into a webpage. You have to export your file and save it in a web-friendly format. There are three formats for web graphics: JPEG, GIF and PNG.

JPEG:
The JPEG format (pronounced “jay-peg”) works best with photos or images that have more than 256 colors and patterns, like the flowers.

Images in the JPEG format compresses are stored, which means that image information is lost really means what the image to deteriorate by the quality.

JPEG quality:

Transparent PNGs are not currently widespread in the Web, as older versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer is not supported, but they are often used in Macromedia Flash movies. PNGs can improve image quality in a smaller file size than GIFs may produce.

Photoshop, you can use a picture as a PNG-8 file (which works the same way as a GIF will be saved with 256 colors) or PNG-24 file (the variable for millions of colors and transparency).

GIF/PNG-8 colors:
Adjusting this setting reduces the number of colors used in an image. This will usually make the biggest difference in the final image. Dither level and type (no dither, diffusion, pattern, Noise)

This setting does not do anything with nervous or restless. Dither refers to a compression technique, which vary in the pattern of dots to give the illusion of a gradient. Change the Dithering is used together in a further significant deterioration in results for images that contain a large number of mixed colors.
